Well into 2023, the year has offered watch enthusiasts much to be excited about, as exciting new launches continue to arrive. As always, anniversaries are a key subject in 2023, and the reissues have been plenty — a tendency we undoubtedly observed at the industry trade fair Watches and in other fresh launches throughout the year.
OMEGA
The demand for vintage timepieces has increased dramatically in recent years, and it shows no signs of abating anytime soon. Indeed, the vintage watch industry is believed to be worth 3.4 billion pounds, and with the rise of the internet watch marketplace, it has never been easier to uncover uncommon possibilities and make a purchase in a matter of seconds. Vintage watches are extremely lightweight and tiny, making them ideal for international shipment.
Popular manufacturers such as Omega are looking to the past for inspiration, repurposing designs from the 1960s and 1970s in a number of their new models in the hope of tapping into the growing market for old watches.
BREITLING
The Breitling Chronomat Chronograph is a striking new rendition of the Chronomat, featuring a big 44mm case and the exceptional Caliber 01 at its heart.
Small seconds, 30-minute, and 12-hour chronograph subdials contrast with the model. The dial, which includes a date window at 4:30, is easily visible through the case back's convex sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating on both sides.
With the globe more focused on environmental issues than ever before, most sectors are making a concerted effort to promote an eco-friendly lifestyle. The watch business is no exception, with more and more ecologically conscious items entering the market each year.
Vegan watch straps are a popular leather strap alternative for those who live a vegan diet yet want to look fashionable. With 79 million vegans already on the planet, the need for vegan alternatives in the watch business is projected to skyrocket.
TAG HEUER
You could count the number of times you've seen a red dial Tag Heuer Monaco on one hand. You've probably never seen one, which is what makes this limited edition Monaco so attractive. The one we have today is one of 1,000 manufactured in collaboration with the Grand Prix Historique de Monaco.
This watch has very comparable specs to the standard Monaco but has a more eye-catching face and case back. Definitely one to think about as a future collectible.
