One of the most well-known watch companies today, Tag Heuer will release two limited edition timepieces in 2024 to commemorate and honor the Lunar New Year and the Year of the Dragon.
These watches, which were unveiled on November 13, 2023, celebrate the arrival of the dragon and fuse the rich culture of China with the DNA of Tag Heuer, the company's racing heritage, and fashion into a wristwatch that blends both.
The dragon holds a special position in Chinese culture since it is the only animal in the Chinese Zodiac that does not exist in reality. People born in this year are seen as having a lot of charisma and authority.
The red alligator leather straps and embellishments on the gold and steel timepieces highlight this harmonious combination. The Chinese Dragon is honored by this color palette.
The gold variant features an 18K 5N pink gold dial that has been sun-brushed, while the steel version features a silver dial. Both are able to maintain their poise and sophistication while still being attractive. But the 18K 5 N punk gold-plated and rhodium-plated indexes on both the steel and the gold are enhanced with a special red lacquer that provides each watch a warm tone.
The subdials at 3 and 9 on both watch faces are intended to evoke the image of a panda, an animal that is closely associated with China. However, instead of having black eyes, the eyes on this watch face are completed in a striking shade of deep crimson azure.
The steel version of this watch has an engraving on the back of the case that indicates which number out of 300 your watch is, while the gold version has the same etching but indicates which number out of 50. This adds to the watch's uniqueness. A extremely special club that will soon become uncommon.
The watch has a domed sapphire crystal with double anti-reflective treatment, and its movement is the calibre hueuer 02 auto. Both versions of the watch have Super-LumiNova coating on the hour and minute hands in addition to the indexes, and it is water resistant to a depth of 100 meters.
Either watch would look stunning in a collection, and it even manages to carry over the design to the reverse, where a Chinese dragon is seen next to the internal components of the watch.
