Omega released new variants to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Seamaster. The new Seamaster 300, Diver 300m, Aqua Terra, Planet Ocean, Worldtimer, and Ultra Deep have been polished and feature a new Ocean Blue varnished dial — and a new Ploprof Diver features original designs.
If you like Omega and the Seamaster, as well as some cool blues, you'll like this year's watches.
New Dials in "Summer Blue"
The color is the star of Omega's new 2023 Seamaster collection. The brand's new "Summer Blue" colorway is featured on every release. Many of the dials are fumée-style, meaning they change in a gradient from the center. They're not all the same shade of "Summer Blue," though.
An Original Ploprof Diver with a Smaller Case
A new Ploprof Diver may have made the most waves of the entire release. This new version recreates the original 1971 version's monobloc case construction and dimensions. It measures 55mm x 45mm x 15.5mm, which is 3mm smaller than previous versions (which measured 55mm x 48mm). Summer Blue appears to be referencing the ocean depths with its 1,200-meter depth rating — dark blue, almost black at the dial's edges.
Summer Blue is Applied to the Seamaster Diver 300M and Seamaster 300.
In 2019, the Five Deeps sea mission used a modified Ultradeep to descend to the bottom of the Challenger Deep, the deepest recorded depth in the ocean at 10,928 meters. Its commercial version is rated to a shallower but still insane 6,000m. This watch may make the best use of the "Summer Blue" dial of them all: it's nearly black and features a mapped pattern representing the ocean floor it once visited.
Surprisingly, it also has an easter egg: UV light reveals a circled section of the dial's "map" as well as the handwritten text, "Omega was here!" It works, we love it, and it perfectly complements this insane watch.
More Watches with "Summer Blue" Dials
Omega also released several new versions of the Aqua Terra, which benefit greatly from the use of the Summer Blue colors in a sunburst pattern. The dial of the new Planet Ocean is deep-sea dark blue, with no orange accents. A new WorldTimer uses blue to highlight a map of the Earth as seen from the image.
Users commented on Omega's Instagram post announcing the new releases, noting price increases as well as minor changes. Many people were hoping for bracelet upgrades and even more extensive redesigns. However, with so many new Seamasters to choose from, there is still plenty to be excited about.
